As the calendar changes to 2024, the January transfer window officially begins.
The next month is the last chance for managers to enhance their squads before the end of the season. The Premier League has always led the way in terms of transfer expenditure, and January 24 promises to be no exception.
With a fascinating title race on the horizon, a heated competition for the top four, and a handful of teams fighting for survival, all 20 teams require assistance in the closing months of the campaign. It will be difficult to equal last January’s spending, which established a new high of £815 million, but there should be plenty of exciting deals before the window closes at the beginning of next month.
The usual suspects will dominate the headlines, with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool all expected to make moves, but Mirror Sport has looked at every top-flight club’s plans for the coming month….
Arsenal fans are desperate for a new striker, but they are unlikely to receive their wish in January. The issue for Arsenal is that they do not have much room to make a huge move in next month’s window unless they make a significant sell.
Arsenal, like a few other clubs, has recently spent heavily and must be careful to adhere to rigorous spending limits. There will be a “must sell before we can buy” requirement in the window.
That is not to say they will do nothing; they are actively seeking, and it is possible that a defender is their top priority, with a loan deal being an alternative.
