Trouble is brewing as Kansas City Chiefs draft pick says he is not ready to stay.

Andy Reid and his coaching staff had a thorough look at the Chiefs’ latest draft picks during the rookie minicamp, which concluded Wednesday.

The rookies, both drafted and undrafted, gathered on the training field and engaged in a range of practice activities. Furthermore, the three-day training routine has shown the newcomers the standards and lifestyle that they must follow.

Despite the fact that the drills were non-contact due to a shortage of protection, the athletes were able to showcase their abilities to excited spectators.

Hunter Nourzad, a third-round draftee, attended the Chiefs’ recent rookie minicamp and hoped to make a mark.

Furthermore, the rookie out of Penn State aspires to reach the Chiefs roster and serve as a rotational player.

During his college career, the 23-year-old was a versatile offensive lineman who played center, right tackle, and left guard.

He finished college as Penn State’s starting center and will give significant depth to All-Pro Creed Humphrey.

The Chiefs’ rookie offensive lineman compared his play to Trent Williams.

Furthermore, the rookie has modeled his game after Trent Williams, one of the Chiefs’ most recent Super Bowl victims.

During an interview with Damond Talbot, owner of the NFL Draft Diamonds, Nourzad was asked who he would compare to in the league.

“I think that Trent Williams’ play in the NFL translates to my play in the Ivy League,” he replied.

“He has finesse and discipline in the passing game, can drive a down lineman with power, but also prides himself on being able to get in the open field on screens, being an athlete, and keeping up with the receiver or back.”

The Chiefs’ hybrid offensive lineman believes he has a similar game plan to Trent Williams, an 11-time Pro Bowler for the San Francisco 49ers.

Williams is one of the NFL’s most athletic veterans.

At 35, Williams is one of the league’s most athletic linemen. He has the physical strength to overcome the opposing pass rusher and can direct the movement of defenders to make room for his running backs.

Furthermore, his true agility is shown when he sweeps about on screenplays to block linebackers and defensive backs.

Screenplays may be where the Chiefs want to deploy Nourzad, as his reps will be analyzed and developed during his rookie season.

If the rookie can replicate Trent Williams’ success, he will be hailed as the biggest draft steal in 2024.

However, if the hopeful youngster aspires to earn even half of Williams’ status, he would face a tremendous task.

The four-time All-Pro is still going strong as he nears the end of his storied NFL career, which includes 14 years with the Washington Commanders and the 49ers.
