New England Patriots to appoint Dan Campbell as new General Manager

Eliot Wolf oversaw the New England Patriots’ draft after Bill Belichick’s departure. He will now have to interview for his current position.

The National Football League’s front office operates on a different timetable than players and coaches do. Instead of hiring and firing mostly at the end of the regular season, these choices are frequently undertaken following the NFL Draft.

Yes, some general managers are let go after the regular season, but with the NFL Draft only three months away, this complicates matters. That is how the New England Patriots handled their business, naming Eliot Wolf acting general manager rather than seeking a permanent replacement.

Wolf will now get the opportunity to interview for his job. The Patriots are now looking for their key decision maker and will start the interview process. Wolf will participate in the interview process but will not be named to the position until they comply with the Rooney Rule.

Kraft discussed the process of identifying their next decision maker, emphasizing teamwork as a vital characteristic.

“We have a lot of people internally who have had a chance to train and learn under the greatest coach of all-time and a man whose football intellect is very special,” Kraft added. “So, in the short term, we are searching for collaboration. Given our salary cap room, our team has a wonderful opportunity to position itself well, and we’ve never drafted as high as we are now, in my 30 years of ownership.

There is no deadline for the Patriots to make their decision. Expect them to move fast, allowing the new decision maker to establish their own processes.
