Jeff Hafley, the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator, goes on a rant about Xavier McKinney

The Green Bay Packers are entering the 2024 season with high expectations on defense. It is not the first time in recent memory that the Packers’ defensive aspirations have been disappointed halfway through the season. However, with the addition of new coaches and staff, things feel a little different this time around.

Xavier McKinney was a huge addition to this defense. Today, defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley talked about his new safety.

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley went on a rant over Xavier McKinney.

“Having X has been so lovely. What a professional. How hard he works, how he communicates, how he behaves in conference rooms, and how he watches out for the younger guys.

That’s what you don’t see. All of the things I told you about in my first meeting, we believe he can do – and he has demonstrated that he can – but the best thing about him is, as I told him the other day, you don’t learn about someone, who they are, and how hard they work until they arrive.

That is undoubtedly what has made us the happiest. wonderful professional, wonderful attitude, and amazing effort. He’s done an excellent job thus far, and we’re very thrilled to have him here, continue to help him grow in the scheme, and truly grasp it.

I believe it is our responsibility to place him in positions to accomplish a variety of tasks. It’s been exciting to see what he can do and how rapidly he learns. I’m so grateful we have him.

Green Bay’s new defensive coaching staff will work with a newly overhauled secondary. This offseason, the organization released Jonathan Owens and Darnell Savage. Their equivalent moves included signing Xavier McKinney and drafting Javon Bullard, Evan Williams, and Kitan Oladapo.

Jeff Hafley has stated that he like the Safety position and believes that a talented player is required for his defense to succeed.

Jaire Alexander, Keisean Nixon, and Eric Stokes will be the top three cornerbacks heading into the season. With a strong pass rush, the secondary has the potential to be among the best in the league.
