Buffalo Bills Blockbuster Trade Proposal Adds Former First-Round Receiver to Replace Stefon Diggs

The Buffalo Bills added some explosiveness to Josh Allen’s arsenal at the 2024 NFL Draft, but they might still improve the receiving corps ahead of the 2024 regular season, following the trade of Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

General manager Brandon Beane and the Bills moved back during the first round, allowing the Kansas City Chiefs to choose University of Texas speedster Xavier Worthy, before rounding back to select former Florida State star Keon Coleman at the top of the second round.

However, with work remaining to be done in the wide receiver room, Beane and the Bills might sign a former first-round choice.

Could the Buffalo Bills trade for Terrace Marshall?

If the Bills aren’t satisfied with their current receiving corps, Beane might go to the Carolina Panthers and former first-round selection Terrace Marshall, who could benefit from a change of environment.

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report compiled a list of five potential deals before Week 1, including the Bills and Marshall.

“By joining the Bills, Marshall would be reunited with Joe Brady,” writes Kay for Bleacher Report. “The current Buffalo offensive coordinator, who also held the same position at Carolina during Marshall’s rookie season. Brady was also the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU in 2019, when Marshall had 671 yards and 13 touchdowns on 46 receptions.

That familiarity, combined with the talent of star quarterback Josh Allen—who represents a significant upgrade over the Carolina signal-callers Marshall has been paired with during his first three NFL seasons—could see Marshall hit the ground running and emerge as a surprise contributor for Buffalo in 2024.

Marshall’s career has had a dismal start, but Brady got the best out of him during their time together at Carolina and is familiar with him from his LSU days.

Marshall caught just 19 catches for 139 yards last season, and the Panthers made big upgrades at wide receiver during the NFL Draft.

Here’s the swap Kay suggests:

The Buffalo Bills have acquired WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

Carolina Panthers gain a 2026 seventh-round pick.

The Bills acquire a 23-year-old with first-round pedigree and upside in return for a low-cost selection, while the Panthers gain draft money for greater flexibility in potential Day 3 swaps during next year’s draft.

This transaction has little negative for either team and makes perfect sense for both parties.
