As of early May, the Green Bay Packers were wondering where offensive tackle Jordan Morgan fits on their roster. Morgan has been participating in the Packers rookie minicamp since the beginning of the month. He’ll soon be joining his veteran teammates for OTA sessions in late May and June.
The Green Bay Packers are looking to strengthen up the offensive line.
Morgan was taken by the Packers with the 25th pick in the draft. They wanted a versatile offensive lineman to join an offensive line that expected some players to switch positions before settling on a starting five during training camp.
Morgan was a left tackle for Arizona. As a first-round choice, one would expect the Packers to see if he could replace David Bakhtiari on a full-time basis. Following years of knee issues, the Packers released their All-Pro offensive lineman earlier this offseason. (Morgan sustained an ACL tear in college.) Before the draft, Rasheed Walker was projected to be the Packers’ starting left tackle.
The Packers don’t know where Jordan Morgan will fit.
Following the draft, there was talk that Morgan might be shifted to right tackle, allowing the Packers to move Zach Tom to center. Morgan may, however, be moved to the offensive line’s interior.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich discussed the team’s plans for Morgan. He isn’t sure where Green Bay needs Morgan yet.
“Morgan thrives on the brink. I just want to see where he fits best with our top five options. That could be at tackle or not.”
Stenavich added. Morgan needs to improve his hand placement.
Fortunately, the Packers have many weeks to see where Morgan fits on the offensive line. The required phase of OTAs will not start until next month.
Will Morgan find out where to put his hands before then?
