The Kansas City Chiefs signed 17 undrafted rookie free agents.
With the 2024 NFL Draft in the books, Kansas City is preparing their undrafted free agency class for the year.
The Kansas City Chiefs are wrapping up their preparation following the 2024 NFL Draft as they begin rookie minicamp.
Undrafted free agents are key assets to many clubs, and general manager Brett Veach is no stranger to discovering good ones. Kansas City hopes for another strong haul this year, especially as the reigning champions aim to keep their team youthful and economical.
On Saturday, the Chiefs unveiled their official list of 2024 UDFA signings. Here’s the entire group:
TCU RB Emani Bailey
UCLA RB Carson Steele
USC DB Christian Roland-Wallace Marshall. OL Ethan Driskell
Florida State DT Fabien Lovett Sr., Villanova OL Nick Torres
Penn State LB Curtis Jacobs
James Madison WR Reggie Brown
Southern Miss LB Swayze Bozeman
Utah CB Miles Battle
BYU P Ryan Rehkow
Kansas State receiver Phillip Brooks
Tennessee Chattanooga OT Griffin McDowell
Oklahoma OL McKade Mettauer.
Texas Tech TE Baylor Cupp
Central Connecticut LB Luquay Washington
Kent State CB Derrick Miller
Kansas City has also made some similar measures. Wide receiver Anthony Miller, wideouts Jacob Copeland and Shi Smith, tight end Izaiah Gathings, safety Tyree Gillespie, and defensive end Jordan Smith were all waived. The club has withdrawn its exclusive rights free agent tender for linebacker Cole Christiansen, but he can still return to the club.
Some of the superstars for this year’s UDFA class were known ahead of time. For example, Veach named Bailey and Steele as options for the Chiefs’ third running back position. On the other side of the ball, Jacobs was largely projected to be picked, but his addition to an already crowded linebacker room will help the wealthy get richer. According to Zack Eisen of Arrowhead Report, Lovett might be a Day 3 draft target along the defensive line.
In addition to the UDFA roster, individuals invited to rookie minicamp will have a chance to make a lasting impact on the organization very soon. This year, the Chiefs’ minicamp will take place from Saturday, May 4 to Monday, May 6. This three-day window is followed by OTAs that begin later in the month.
