The Los Angeles Rams made several significant squad acquisitions this offseason, both through free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft. However, the worst blow came with Aaron Donald’s retirement. However, on a return, it looks that the door is not completely shut.
Donald, 32, had considered leaving the game for several years. On March 15, the future Hall of Famer announced his official retirement, leaving a significant vacancy in the Rams’ defensive line. The departure is one of the primary reasons Los Angeles invested heavily in edge rusher Jared Verse and defensive lineman Braden Fiske.

Will Aaron Donald come out of retirement?
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Snead stated that the Rams have spoken with Donald about the prospect of returning for the playoffs.
“I did mention [to Aaron Donald] if we happen to get to the playoffs again, maybe we’ll circle back and see.”
As Snead told Rich Eisen, the Rams have done this before. Former All-Pro safety Eric Weddle retired from football following the 2019 season in Los Angeles. When the Rams’ secondary suffered injuries, Weddle came out of retirement and signed with the team in January 2022, where he won a Super Bowl.
Snead concedes Donald’s unretirement is far less likely, and the team acknowledges the 32-year-old is content with his life beyond football. However, if the Rams enter the playoffs with a chance to win the Super Bowl, it seems evident that Los Angeles will make that decision.
