If West Ham decides to fire David Moyes this summer, they may need to move quickly to appoint Will Still ahead of Sunderland.
The Scotsman’s future at the London Stadium is unknown as his contract expires, and there are already hints of friction between him and Tim Steidten.
Still, who has been linked with the Hammers position, will leave Reims at the end of the season and is being pursued by several English clubs, including Sunderland.
HITC journalist Graeme Bailey tweeted, “Reims confirm that head coach Will Still has left the club and will not finish the season.”
“Strongly linked with a move to England, the highly rated 31-year-old will have plenty of options.”
“Sunderland tried for him last year and remain keen.”
The Hammers will be a more appealing alternative for Still due to their established Premier League position, European appearances, and wealth, but their indecision may benefit Sunderland.
The Championship team has previously expressed interest in Still and may be willing to give him the control and backing he seeks.
If Sunderland act fast and aggressively, they may be able to outmanoeuvre West Ham in the race to sign Still.
The scenario is further compounded by the tension that appears to be building behind the scenes at the London Stadium.
This could have an impact on West Ham’s decision-making process and the attractiveness for the position to a new manager.
