COLUMBUS, Georgia (WTVM) The Atlanta Braves and Truist plan to hold many events in Fountain City as part of their Braves Park Projects Program and Braves Country Road Trip.
The inaugural event, part of the Sally Little League Project, will take place on Friday, May 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shirley Winston Park (5025 Steam Mill Road). The project includes brand new field equipment such as L screens, pitching mounds, batting mats, stick swing trainers, pitching nets, chalkers, and game equipment such as a catcher’s set, as well as baseballs and softballs for Little League programs.
The event will include a DJ, a food truck, photo activation, a beautifying project, and volunteer-led whiffle ball games. The Atlanta Braves Foundation, Truist, Sally Little League, and Councilmember Toyia Tucker will also make remarks during the ceremony.
The second event, Braves Country Road Trip, will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. in Woodruff Park as part of Uptown’s River Fest.
The road trip will feature a “Pose at the Plate” event, in which fans can enter a replica of Truist Park and pose for their own customizable baseball card. Fans will receive a printed and digital copy of their baseball card, as well as free goodies such as hats, koozies, posters, and more.
