The Braves hope to avoid being swept for the first time in 2024 when Sale hits the mound against Seattle.
The Seattle Mariners’ pitching has been as predicted in this series, allowing them to win two close low-scoring games against the Braves. Last night, Luis Castillo gave the Braves offense fits as Settle won their second consecutive one-run game, 3-2.
Atlanta wants to rebound and salvage the series finale by sending veteran Chris Sale to the mound. Atlanta has been in an uncommon offensive funk, but ideally some of the big bats will break out on a warmer day.
Let’s look at the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight’s game.
Probable starting pitchers: Chris Sale (3-1, 3.69 ERA) will look to prevent Atlanta from getting swept by the Mariners. Sale has been fantastic thus far, especially when looking at his figures after the first inning. If he can figure out how to avoid giving up leadoff home runs, Sale will be rated one of Atlanta’s greatest prospects this season.
Emerson Hancock (3-2, 5.06 ERA) was selected sixth overall in the 2020 draft out of the University of Georgia. Hancock will face his local team, hoping to complete a sweep for Seattle. His hit ball profile isn’t the most thrilling for M’s supporters, but given their recent strong pitching performance, the Braves bats will have a lot of work to do.
