The club appear set to have a quiet window despite a lack of defensive depth and a struggle for goals upfront, with financial fair play issues currently preventing big-money incomings in this month.

It remains to be seen what business Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar would try to make, if any, because they are allegedly satisfied with the roster, but a number of players, including Ivan Toney and Douglas Luiz, have been linked.

Arsenal Insider has met exclusively with HITC Football’s transfer specialist Graeme Bailey to get the latest on probable transfer targets for this window, as well as information on what may happen in the summer market, with a few players potentially on their way out.

Arsenal are planning to strengthen their midfield in the summer transfer window. While additions would be welcomed in January following Kai Havertz’s sluggish start, the team has three goals for the summer transfer window.

Bailey has stated that the team is interested in signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, and Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp to join Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the midfield trio.

Recent speculations linked Arsenal with a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, and the transfer expert has now revealed that, while the club admires the 22-year-old, he is not viewed as someone who can quickly improve the attack.

“I believe he is someone who is on their radar. “I don’t believe he’s their top target,” Bailey said of Arsenal and Zirkzee.

Arsenal has been connected with several strikers who might improve their attack for next season, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen would be an excellent addition.

He has also been linked with Chelsea, but the HITC writer has issued a reassuring update to Arsenal supporters.

“I believe Arsenal will be the ones to watch in the Osimhen market.” It is not that they cannot afford him; they certainly can; but, whether they will be willing to smash the British transfer record again remains to be seen.
