SAD DEPARTURE: A key player is departing the Packers for the Dallas Cowboys owing to…

Frisco – It doesn’t appear to be the case for now, as Day 1 of NFL free agency on Monday is primarily about who is leaving and/or rejecting Dallas.

But the Cowboys do have a roster-building strategy, correct? And they do need a running back, correct?

That player will not be Saquon Barkley. He is signing with the Eagles.

That player will not be Tony Pollard. He is signing with the Titans.

But now, another name has entered the picture. Will the Cowboys truly make a “immediate call” to Aaron Jones now that the Green Bay Packers cut him after attempting to negotiate a pay cut?

At the age of 29, injuries have become a worry. However, the Cowboys have reason to be tormented by the damage he caused them in the playoffs. Jones carried for 118 yards and three touchdowns in the Packers’ playoff opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Oh, and he added 108 yards in the Packers’ second-round loss to the 49ers.

Green Bay, by the way, will not be in a tight place. A.J. Dillon, who was drafted to be Jones’ heir, is already set to enter free agency. He will be 26 this year and has his own injury issues. But the Packers have just signed former running championA.J. Dillon from the Raiders. So they have a solution.

According to Spotrac, Jones’ current market value is under $5 million for a year. That is absolutely not outrageous. And the Cowboys do need someone to play running back. So we won’t dismiss our source’s information about Aaron Jones, putting our well-earned skepticism aside for the time being.
