The 6-foot-1 guard from Oak Forest, Illinois, was a former four-star prospect in the 2023 cycle and was a crucial member of LSU’s No. 1 recruiting class, which included Angelica Velez, Aalyah Del Rosario, and Mikaylah Williams.

Both guards have entered the portal, and Velez and Kent are about to leave Baton Rouge.

Kent averaged 1.6 points per game as a freshman, and she played little under Kim Mulkey.

It’s no secret that LSU’s roster was loaded with talent during the 2023-24 season after the Tigers brought in America’s top recruiting class, led by SEC Freshman of the Year Mikaylah Williams and transfers Aneesah Morrow and Hailey Van Lith.

Kent has now found a new home in order to gain instant playing time and compete in the competitive Southeastern Conference.

LSU will be looking for a point guard this offseason, as Van Lith, Velez, and Kent have all announced their plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Van Lith, who will use her COVID year to play a fifth season of college basketball, will attend TCU for her final season. She believes she is a “pro-type” athlete and intends to improve her draft stock during the 2024-25 season.

“You have to kind of look at what type of player you are,” Van Lith went on to say. “Some guys have to capitalize in college because they are not professional-caliber players. Their likability will remain in college. And I don’t think that’s the case. I’m a professional-type player. The deals will follow, as Angel said. The only disadvantage is limited visibility. And the number of times we play on ESPN, ABC, and all of these major television channels decreases significantly when you look at the WNBA as it stands now. You’re not going to be in the media as often, but from a brand standpoint, as long as you do what you have to do and keep up that part of your life, then the brands are going to follow you when you go to the league
