I just spoke from #Braves Spencer Strider, who clarified the issue with his elbow. A bone fragment grew in his UCL and eventually broke loose, creating weakening in the ligament. Fortunately, the ligament was intact, which led to the UCL bracing operation. There was no need for T.J.
Because Strider underwent an internal brace technique rather than full-fledged Tommy John surgery, he should be able to pitch for the majority of next season.

However, his loss for this year’s Braves is terrible. Strider, one of baseball’s top pitchers, was projected to be part of a potential World Series winning staff in Atlanta.

Strider led the league in strikeouts last season and has a 32-10 career record with a 3.47 ERA. He recorded an ERA of 7.00 in two starts this season, which could be attributed to the increasing elbow issue. Strider was an All-Star last season and finished fourth in the National League Cy Young voting, helping the Braves win the National League East.

In his absence, the squad will rely on Chris Sale, Reynaldo Lopez, Charlie Morton, and Max Fried. They have a number of young starters to help fill the No. 5 spot, and Ian Anderson might return from his own surgery around the All-Star break.
