The Kansas City Chiefs will shortly travel to Green Bay for their Week 13 matchup, as the Packers prepare for the reigning Super Bowl champions. Ahead of Sunday Night Football, Andy Reid’s team’s injury situation is mainly positive.
Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Reid stated that everyone on the current roster should be able to play on Sunday. This includes running back Jerick McKinnon and wide receiver Kadarius Toney, both of whom missed last weekend’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The bad news is that linebacker Nick Bolton’s return may have to wait another week.
Bolton was set to return from injured reserve earlier this week, but he only participated in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The former second-round pick hasn’t made enough development in such a short period of time to be ready to play again. Furthermore, he still has some time before reaching the six-week milestone that was originally predicted for his rehabilitation from surgery to heal a damaged wrist. Kansas City is being cautious with him, and for good reason. Bolton has 28 combined tackles in four games this season.
Among those playing this week, McKinnon and Toney’s expected comeback could assist the Chiefs’ attack. The former is a reliable pass protector and receiver out of the backfield, while the latter is an explosive athlete that opposing defenses must watch out for when he’s on the field. McKinnon has 185 yards from scrimmage this year, including three touchdowns. Toney, who will play in 10 out of 11 games in 2023, has 22 receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown this season. As of Friday, it appeared that Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry will have two extra players to account for in Week 13.
