Manchester City will be without Erling Haaland for today’s trip to Luton.
Jack Grealish and Rodri do, however, return.
The pair were both suspended for Wednesday’s defeat to high-flying Aston Villa, which means Pep Guardiola has gone four games without a win for the first time in his elite-level management career.
Rodri’s return to the squad will be very beneficial. Other than Haaland, Guardiola’s side has not won any of the three Premier League games the midfielder has missed this season.
Grealish’s return will also lessen the pressure offensively. Jeremy Doku missed the Villa game and likely do so again, giving the England international an opportunity to reclaim his regular starting position from the Belgian.
Kevin De Bruyne is on a comeback route, but Guardiola has confirmed that the forthcoming Club World Cup may be too soon for the midfielder.
“Kevin is so important,” stated Guardiola. “But, regrettably, he’s been dealing with a serious injury for three or four months. Don’t put pressure on him; when he returns, we’ll welcome him back with open arms.
“But I’ve told the team, do you realize how difficult it was to earn the Treble? We were eight to nine points behind Arsenal.
“With all of the troubles and injuries we experienced. It’s typical; that’s why we credited the Treble.”
