The Dolphins are likely to rely on rookie sensation De’Von Achane when he returns from injured reserve on Saturday, assuming he does not suffer a setback.
De’Von Achane was the NFL’s second-leading rusher the last time he played football, despite only appearing in four regular-season games.
Based on the mobility and speed he demonstrated in Wednesday’s practice, it appears that the phenomenal rookie will be able to continue where he left off for the Miami Dolphins when he returns to the active squad on Saturday.
The way Achane has been moving over the last few days, it appears like the knee injury will not be a major factor moving ahead, which was Miami’s reasoning for putting him on injured reserve, despite the fact that his knee ailment did not necessitate surgery.
“It was more a sprain type-injury that the thing that you do if you have to really minimize the time off the field, is in those situations with players, you throw a brace on their knee and have them go,” Mike McDaniel, the team’s head coach, stated “We just didn’t really envision him being one that would really flourish with a brace so we took the time to make sure that we can get structurally completely strong.”
The former Texas A&M standout the Dolphins shelved for the previous four weeks because of the injury he sustained in Miami’s 31-16 win over the New York Giants, is likely to be needed in the tailback rotation because of a left leg ailment. Raheem Mostert, the team’s starter and top rusher, appears.
