After deleting his name from the transfer portal, DJ Lundy declared he would end his collegiate career as a Florida State Seminole.
Both on-the-field victories and off-field tragedies marked a historic season for Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles, who are now putting the pieces together for the ‘Noles to return stronger than ever in 2024. Norvell has assembled a top-10 high school recruiting class and continues adding top-tier talent via the transfer portal. Although FSU has seen proven winners arrive at their next home in Tallahassee since the team returned from Miami after the Orange Bowl, it can be argued that the most significant portal victory for Florida State was not who transferred in but who decided to stay.
After electing to enter the transfer portal on December 13th and committing to the Colorado Buffaloes and Buffs Deion Sanders, linebacker DJ Lundy stated on social media that he will be returning to Tallahassee for his final season of eligibility.
During the 2023 season, Lundy established himself as a linebacker room leader, appearing in all 13 regular season games. This past season, Lundy recorded 54 tackles (17 solo), two sacks, and one interception. With the departures of Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach, Lundy is nearly certain to be the linebacker room’s face in 2024.
With the redshirt senior from Ocilla, GA, making a surprising announcement to return, his teammates and fans soon flocked to social media to express their thoughts, as the Seminoles continue to dominate the 2024 season.
