Following their blowout victory over the Vikings, Jordan Love is playing like an NFL MVP-level quarterback, and the Green Bay Packers’ future looks bright.
Green Bay, Wisconsin – Jordan Love versus Jaren Hall is a quarterbacking mismatch of epic proportions. With such a significant edge, the Green Bay Packers needed to take care of business against the Minnesota Vikings.
They did more than just take care of business. They dominated. After defeating the Vikings 33-10, they can win a postseason spot if they beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
With Love, the Packers destroyed the Vikings. With Love, the Packers should beat the Bears and make the playoffs. With Love, the Packers, despite their flaws, will be a strong opponent for the Lions, Cowboys, or whoever awaits on Wild Card Weekend.
Over the last seven games, 33 quarterbacks have attempted at least 100 passes. Love ranks second in passer rating (109.9), first in touchdown passes (16), and first in interceptions (1). That 16-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio outperforms FanDuel Sportsbok’s MVP frontrunners: Lamar Jackson (15 to 4), Dak Prescott (15 to 2), and Brock Purdy (16 to 6).
Against the Vikings, Love played another outstanding game. The intensity is comparable to that of a playoff game. The roar was deafening. Blitzing the opponent. Rivalry game.
Love handled everything with the ease of a championship-caliber quarterback.
“I can’t say enough great things about him,” said coach Matt LaFleur. “Just his ability to hang in there against some tough looks, drifting away from pressure, putting the ball in play, and allowing his teammates to make plays. I believe he’s playing at an extremely high level. I’m ecstatic for him since he’s worked so hard to get here. I truly believe the sky is the limit for him. He’s merely giving us a taste of who he can become in the future.”
For three decades, the Packers dominated the Bears thanks to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. With Love, the supremacy will continue.
“This is exactly the situation we’ve been working for all offseason (and) all through training camp to get ready to put ourselves in a position to make the playoffs,” Love said in a statement. “It has not been easy this year. There have been many highs and lows, as well as plenty of adversity.
“We had no idea what to expect going into the year. We had no expectations. I believe that everyone has continued to strive and discover methods to improve, and that we are currently in control of our fate. So I’m excited to go do business next week.”
The Packers’ future begins now. That does not mean they are credible Super Bowl candidates. However, because of Love, the Packers are truly good enough to defeat any team.
