It will be challenging for the Las Vegas Raiders to select one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft because they will not select until the thirteenth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Although Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and Caleb Williams are regarded as the top three prospects, another quarterback has been rising quickly in the draft.
J.J. McCarthy, a former quarterback for Michigan, is undoubtedly the draft’s biggest riser. There are even rumours that he might be able to get selected among the top three quarterbacks. McCarthy appears to have a good chance of getting selected among the top three players available at the position, according to Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce.
During his media availability on March 25, Pierce stated, “I wouldn’t even put them in the next group of guys because there’s some people that probably see them as No. 2 or No. 3.” “We are unaware of everyone’s board. It’s a pretty talented ensemble, in my opinion. The majority of the guys were interviewed at the combine. We had wonderful discussions with them. You’re speaking about a winner, a national champion, J.J. McCarthy. I’m baffled as to why he isn’t among the top three.
It seems from Pierce’s remarks that the Raiders would feel at ease selecting McCarthy in the draft if he were available. But the likelihood that he will not go past the No. 4 pick is growing. The Arizona Cardinals at No. 4 would be the finest trade-up choice for Las Vegas if they believe McCarthy can be the quarterback of the future.
Antonio Pierce Praises Michael Penix & Bo Nix.
J.J. McCarthy would probably be removed first, followed by Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix. Although it’s questionable if either quarterback is worthy of a first-round selection, Antonio Pierce highly praised both of them.
“And then you see Bo Nix—I mean, 61 career starts, I think? Like, come on, dude,” remarked Pierce. That is absurd. Even Penix leading his team to the University of Washington national championship.
You have your eye on one, two, or three quarterbacks because you want a certain one, but I believe you can’t go wrong with any of these men in this year’s selection. Do they work out now? I’m not sure. It fits. When they are introduced, that is. It’s the framework. Many factors are involved.
The Raiders might not have to move up at No. 13 in order to get Penix and Nix. Any very skilled quarterback prospect might be on Vegas’ radar.
