BBC Introducing, in collaboration with Independent in Holmeside, is hosting a night of rising talent in Sunderland.

The event, organized by the BBC Introducing team in the North East, which broadcasts on BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Radio Teesside, will take place on Saturday, March 2 and will include six handpicked musicians from their prized ‘Ones to Watch’ lists.

BBC Introducing has long been a driving force in the industry, promoting developing talent through regional radio play, national airtime possibilities, and festival stages, featuring performances by notable musicians such as Ed Sheeran and Catfish and the Bottlemen.

The initiative has helped launch the careers of countless independent artists, cementing their place in the music industry.

The carefully curated lineup for the Sunderland showcase includes hometown heroes bigfatbig, who wowed audiences with a main stage performance at Waves festival last year, punk newcomers IRKED, Durham-based ivies, Newcastle rockers Jango Flash, the recently headline-touring Lizzie Esau, and formidable funk powerhouses Moon Wax.

Shakk, a broadcaster for BBC Introducing, will host and compere the event.

Ben Richardson, Independent’s promoter, emphasized his excitement, adding, “We’re delighted to bring this event to Sunderland. Collaborating with industry colleagues to design such events is always enjoyable, and working with Shakk and Jordan from BBC Introducing to create this roster of their top picks has been amazing.

“We hope the people of Sunderland turn out to support this event and discover the incredible talent our region has to offer.”
