Bad news for the Michigan Wolverines as Jim Harbaugh is dragged to legal court.

Jim Harbaugh has resigned his post as Michigan’s head coach to become the next coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

On January 24, Jim Harbaugh was introduced as the next head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, succeeding Brandon Staley.

Harbaugh, who had not been a head coach in the NFL since 2014, returned to his alma mater, the University of Michigan, as head coach in 2015, where he won four Big Ten East Division Championships, three Big Ten Championships, and a CFP National Championship last month for the first time since 1997. The departure of Harbaugh, however, will have an impact on Michigan.

Sherrone Moore takes over as head coach amid NCAA investigations.

Sherrone Moore has succeeded Jim Harbaugh.

Moore was 4-0 as acting head coach while Harbaugh was suspended for three games for breaking recruiting laws. When Harbaugh returned, he guided Michigan to six consecutive wins. However, on November 10, the Big Ten Conference imposed Harbaugh’s ban for another three games due to an investigation of sign stealing.

Despite Harbaugh’s suspension, Michigan finished the regular season undefeated with an incredible 15-0 record.

Moore will coach this Michigan squad while Harbaugh is in the NFL, and two NCAA investigations are ongoing. Moore has already had a one-game suspension for self-imposed sanctions for violating NCAA rules, which resulted in Harbaugh’s sentence, but there may be additional penalties once he takes over as head coach. The NCAA’s second sign-stealing case may potentially result in penalties.

Regardless, Moore is now the Wolverines’ head coach. Following a National Championship victory as the team’s offensive coordinator, the new Wolverines head coach will have to guide Michigan through whatever consequences the NCAA has in store for them.

Will Moore face any punishments? Or perhaps his Michigan Staff?

We’ll find out shortly, as Michigan prepares for the upcoming season on August 31 versus Fresno State.
