Daniel Levy may be compelled to sign former Tottenham star for a cut-price amount following UEFA guidelines.

If Ange Postecoglou leads Tottenham to European qualifying this summer, chairman Daniel Levy may be forced to bring a club-trained player back to north London.

UEFA requires four ‘club-trained’ players in a 25-man List A squad. Spurs now only have Oliver Skipp, Brandon Austin, and Alfie Whiteman in this group, therefore they need one more.

Young players Troy Parrott and Max Robson could also start next season, although their futures at the club are questionable. Japhet Tanganga, 24, is currently on loan at Millwall and could leave North London permanently.

If Tottenham fail to nominate four club-trained players, they will have to compete in the UEFA competition with a lesser List A team. However, HITC believes that the North London club may pursue Walker-Peters in the summer transfer window as they seek a versatile full-back.

The 26-year-old came up through Tottenham’s youth and spent seven years with the club before joining Southampton in 2020. It has been believed that Tottenham included a £30 million buy-back clause in the transaction that brought him to St Mary’s.
