Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has stated that he would be willing to play in the NFL for the 2024 season. His comments come only days after Peterson disputed reports that he was experiencing financial issues after earning almost $100 million during his NFL career.
Adrian Peterson is addressing money difficulties in court.
According to Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today, Peterson has not played since 2021, when he received a $8.3 million judgment from a New York Court for an unpaid loan. According to court records, he has not paid up since and has instead been embroiled in a legal battle over attempts to confiscate his property in order to collect on the judgment, including a dispute over a piano and belongings stored in numerous storage facilities.
On Wednesday, dozens of his personal items were advertised for sale at an auction in Texas, including his 2012 MVP trophy and 2007 rookie of the year trophy. The former Minnesota Vikings MVP wants to keep his trophy. Peterson posted a video on X and said his finances were “stable,” unlike what had been reported about him. Peterson stated that he was not trying to sell his MVP trophy or other trophy items.
“I did not authorize the sale of any of my trophies, and I will be taking legal action,” Peterson told reporters. “I made a mistake by trusting this company without oversight. We gave them permission to enter many of our storage containers and provided clear instructions. They certainly done something illegal. I’d like to highlight that I’m financially solid and would never sell my hard-earned medals. And if I was going to sell them, I know who I could sell them to. I would not go online and sell my personal items at random.
Peterson is open to playing in the NFL again.
Peterson could attempt to increase his money account by playing football again. In a video posted by CBS Sports, Peterson stated that he is “open” to returning to the league.
“I wouldn’t say I’m game-ready right now,” Peterson explained. “I had to let my body to recuperate. I have various injuries and such. My last injury was with Seattle; I suffered a pinched nerve and didn’t want to go under the knife. It took about a year for that to recover completely, but I’m always willing to go out there and play again. “We will see what happens.”
The Minnesota Vikings selected Peterson in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He last played for the Seattle Seahawks during the 2021 season. Peterson’s last Pro Bowl season was in 2015.
