The Green Bay Packers’ defense has undergone some substantial alterations this offseason. The 2024 season will see the addition of a new strength and conditioning coach, defensive coordinator, defensive passing game coach, and defensive line coach.

While the defense performed well in the last stretch of the season, the team believes they could get more from that group. Today, a reform was announced that might accomplish precisely that.

Tom Silverstein predicts significant changes for the Green Bay Packers’ secondary.

LaFleur stated that they will be more “vision-based” in the secondary, which he expects to result in more turnovers. He wants his defense to be proactive.

Rob Demovsky added:

Hafley’s defensive style definitely includes a lot of outside press coverage — he’s acknowledged that several times — but he also added: “I’ve been a part of a lot of different defenses, but it comes down to what is this team going to be able to do best to allow us to win games.”

Jeff Hafley’s entire press conference hinted to a quick, muscular, and confrontational defense. Something that Packers supporters have been pleading for for years.

While there may be some personnel issues to address, the Packers have players in the secondary who would perform admirably in press coverage. Hafley also stated that Safety is a critical position that must be able to play “sideline to sideline and erase plays.” It sounds like the Packers might be in the market for a top safety this offseason.
