The Green Bay Packers impressed everyone in 2023-24 by gaining a wild card position and winning all the way to the divisional round, where they were eventually defeated by the San Francisco 49ers. They also have the 25th overall choice in the 2018 draft, and they will need to fill a couple positions once free agency is completed. Most importantly, they will need to replace a large hole in the offensive line left by David Bahktiari, presuming he is released to save cap space.
With several of the offense’s members returning, it’s time to look at the 2024 schedule and see what record will be maintained moving forward.
The Green Bay Packers will, of course, face the NFC North’s Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings (1 home and 1 away as usual).
The NFC North is far from an easy division to play in. However, for the past decade and a half, the Packers have dominated. But over the last few years, things have altered. Two years ago, the Vikings won it. This year, the Lions won. The Bears occasionally get involved and have also served as spoilers for whoever was hot at the moment.
With these making up six of the 17 games next season, the Green Bay Packers should win four of them. First, regardless of what the Bears accomplish in the draft, the Packers should sweep them in 2024, new QB or not. They are still several steps behind the Packers. They will have developed some chemistry, and the Packers have already demonstrated their supremacy against the Bears, whether at Lambeau Field or Soldier Field.
The Vikings are coming off a 7-10 season. However, the year before, they won the division with 13 victories. The Vikings are in a peculiar situation in which they are neither good nor bad. They may pull off some unexpected wins next season, but the Packers should be able to win both games.
The Detroit Lions are the only team in the division that the Green Bay Packers will struggle against. The Lions gradually constructed a formidable squad that, in just three years, went from winning a few games to playing in the NFC Championship and nearly making it to the Super Bowl. They also earned their first NFC North Division championship. The expectation is that the Packers will lose both of these games since the Lions will be much better than last year.
The Packers will finish 4-2 after division games.
The Green Bay Packers face all four NFC West teams.
The Green Bay Packers will face the San Francisco 49ers, the NFC Champions, at Lambeau Field. Many Packers fans will be dreading this game, while others will be wanting to exact revenge. However, the 49ers will not be sleeping much. Their club will not lose many players, and they are coming off a Super Bowl appearance. While the game will be competitive, the 49ers will be too strong for the Packers. If Packers supporters desire payback, they’ll have to wait until the playoffs.
Final score: San Francisco 31, Green Bay 21.
The Arizona Cardinals will visit town for the remaining NFC West home game. While the Cardinals are obviously moving in the right path and will most likely snag Marvin Harrison Jr. or Malik Nabers, whomever the Bears make the mistake of not pursuing (assuming they decide to keep Fields). Regardless of what happens in the draft, the Packers are a year ahead of the Cardinals and should be able to win convincingly at home.
Final score: Green Bay 27, Arizona 13.
The Los Angeles Rams will play the first away game in the NFC West. The Rams are similar to the Vikings in that they recently achieved success by winning the Super Bowl in 2021. They declined in 2022, failing to advance. In 2023, they were eliminated in the first round by the Lions and former quarterback Jared Goff, whom they had traded away.
While the game will be played away, the Rams are a shadow of the squad that won the Super Bowl in 2021. Only a few players from that era remain, and they are getting older with each passing year. While away, SOFI Stadium has served as a nexus for away teams and their fans, particularly the Chargers, who share the stadium with the Rams. Given how well Packers fans travel, this could be an additional home game for the team. With this, the Packers should win.
Final score: Green Bay 31, Los Angeles Rams 17.
The Seattle Seahawks are the final team in the NFC West. Unlike the Rams, the Seahawks’ culture is strong. The Packers and Seahawks have also faced off many times in the NFC Playoffs, including the NFC Championship game. However, it was back when Russell Wilson was with the Seahawks. Geno Smith is currently the quarterback. Russell Wilson, while not perfect, was far superior to Geno Smith in the 2013-2014 season. Jordan Love and his receivers should be able to rip through the Seattle defense, despite the fact that they are in Seattle.
Final score: Green Bay 24, Seattle 17.
