UPDATE: Tottenham are in a strong position to capture Liverpool target according to Ian Wright.

Tottenham have been widely linked with a deal for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, with the club apparently eager to bring the Dutch international to north London.

Spurs have failed to maintain their performances after an excellent start to the season under new manager Ange Postecoglou, due to a number of crucial player injuries.

Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin were signed during the January transfer window to add depth to the team, but there will undoubtedly be more arrivals in the summer.

At the top of that list is Atalanta midfielder Koopmeiners, who has piqued the interest of numerous Premier League clubs.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham is in the ‘front row’ for the 25-year-old, with Liverpool.

However, he may not come cheap, as the article adds that Atalanta would be looking to get the ‘biggest possible price’, with Rasmus Hojlund’s big money move to Manchester United being offered as an example of a prospective sum.

Spurs’ midfield has been at the heart of their success this season, with new arrival James Maddison blending in seamlessly alongside Yves Bissouma, Papa Matar Sarr, and, when healthy, Rodrigo Bentancur.

Adding Koopmeiners to this already-established midfield will allow them to compete on all fronts next season, especially if they win Champions League football.
