When the Cleveland Browns dragged Joe Flacco from his sofa to try to save the season after Deshaun Watson’s injury, expectations were low. This was a 38-year-old quarterback with little desire in free agency and no chemistry with the team’s receivers.

However, Flacco quickly demonstrated the value of his expertise, leading the Browns to a 4-1 record and enabling them reach the playoffs for the second time since 2003. While Flacco proved himself adept over time, one of his teammates was skeptical of his new quarterback’s intentions when they first met.
Joe Flacco was signed to the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad on November 20, with only seven games remaining in the regular season. While Flacco played for multiple other teams throughout his career, his most memorable moments occurred during his 11-year time with the Baltimore Ravens, where he was named Super Bowl MVP.
Flacco’s long history with the Ravens appears to have led certain players, including Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku, to be wary of the quarterback’s intentions in Cleveland.
An undercover agent? What happened four years after his Ravens career ended? That’s ridiculous, but you can’t blame Njoku for having reservations, especially because there were other choices on the roster, like Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
It’s easy to joke about it now, and if Flacco hadn’t been successful, we would not have heard Njoku’s story. However, it is now just another little footnote to a spectacular season in Cleveland.
