Former Everton manager Keith Wyness has stated that Everton might now sue Manchester City for Premier League points, in a “ridiculous” new twist.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, slammed top-flight chiefs for the delays in dealing with Man City’s 115 outstanding FFP charges.

The Premier League accused City last year with 115 financial breaches covering nine seasons, but their case has yet to be heard by an independent commission.

It is likely that the triple winners will not face a verdict on their charges for at least another 12 months, with a hearing scheduled for later this year.

Everton has already been charged and punished for violating the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, and they could face another points punishment in the coming weeks for a separate violation.

Wyness can’t believe ‘ridiculous’ Man City delay; Everton may now sue.

Wyness indicated the Toffees may sue City for league table points if they are found guilty – and Everton are cleared after their appeals.

He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “It’s complicated, with the 115 charges.” I’ve said it numerous times.

“I believe they separated into three or four categories.

I’m just not sure why it’s taking so long. Man City recently defeated Everton; is there a case for Everton to sue and recover those points if City is found guilty and we are innocent of the charges?

“That’s where this stupid merry-go-round that the Premier League has created may end.

“It may become a ridiculous situation like that.

“The delay in hearing Man City’s case is something I’m definitely against and it could have been handled much better by the Premier League.”

In other news, Guardiola has confidentially named the lone Manchester United player good enough to play for Manchester City.
