Leeds United’s Joel Piroe offers a warning to Leicester City amid the title race.

Tonight’s match might determine the Championship title. Leeds United’s manager, Joel Piroe, has expressed confidence in his team’s chances.

Leeds face Championship leaders Leicester City tonight in a contest that may either put the Whites back in contention for first place or widen the gap between Leicester and the chasing pack behind them.

A win for the Foxes would put them 12 points ahead of Daniel Farke’s side, who are presently second place due to a better goal difference than Southampton.

Heading into the game, Leeds striker Piroe made a bold prediction regarding his team’s chances of finishing first in the league table.

Joel Piroe discusses Leeds’ chances of winning the Championship.

Speaking to LUTV, the Dutch attacker stated that catching Enzo Maresca’s side is definitely possible, and that they must focus on winning all of their remaining 13 games.

“With the points up for grabs, it’s achievable, yes,” claimed the 24-year-old. “We know as well what normally has been enough to have automatic promotion might not be enough this season, so we just have to try to win every game that we play from now on.”

When asked how he copes with the pressure and expectation that comes with representing the Elland Road residents, Piroe replied: “You always have the expectation at Leeds that you win the games convincingly. “I believe it’s about staying focused and ensuring we deserve to win every game.”If we work more than the competition, if we just demonstrate better quality with and without the ball, I am confident we can beat any side.”

Leeds’ run-in is not as simple as it appears.

Farke’s side will face five of the current bottom six teams in their remaining 13 league games of the 2023/24 season. They include Huddersfield Town (A), Stoke City (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A), Millwall (H), and QPR.
