Tottenham want to buy a £43 million midfielder who claims he is better than Manchester City’s Rodri

The Turkish international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several years. Several teams, notably Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, are said to be interested in him.

HakanB Calhanoglou is in his third year with Inter Milan, where he has played practically every game as a defensive midfielder.

The 30-year-old has played in a variety of positions on the pitch over the years. He has always been recognized for his attacking abilities, but he has adjusted well to his deeper role.

Calhanoglou, on the other hand, appears to have a high opinion of himself, certainly higher than we do. In a video posted on DAZN’s TikTok account, the Turk referred to himself as the finest defensive midfielder in the world.

He put himself first, ahead of Rodri of Manchester City, Toni Kroos of Real Madrid, Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea.

Calhanoglou explained his evaluation, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Why am I the best?” Because I score goals, others do not.

“If you look at the statistics, I never score from close range, but rather from 25-30 meters or with a free kick. These are challenging things.

“Then, everyone is skilled at managing, but I dislike making passes from five meters away.

Tottenham have done an excellent job in the last two transfer windows, but there is still a lot to be done.

Inter Live reported at the end of October last year that Tottenham would try to recruit Hakan Calhanoglou if they advanced to the Champions League and lost Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Dane is almost certain to leave in the summer, and according to the source, Inter Milan will seek £43 million to let Calhanoglou go.

If you’re ‘the best defensive midfielder in the world’, the above fee would be a steal, but Calhanoglou isn’t.

That’s why we’d be surprised if Tottenham made a move for him this summer.
