Dwight Yorke has stated that he would love to become Sunderland’s new manager.

Sunderland are looking for a new manager following the dismissal of Michael Beale.

So, what did Dwight Yorke say about Sunderland? Let’s have a look.

Dwight Yorke is open to returning to Sunderland

Dwight Yorke has been talking about Sunderland. He’s ready to return to the Stadium of Light.

Yorke played for Sunderland from 2006 to 2009. He eventually retired.

The former Manchester United star has now said that he would like to manage Sunderland.

Sunderland are now on the hunt for a new permanent manager following the sacking of Michael Beale.

The Championship club have installed Mike Dodds as interim manager until the end of the season, and HITC understands that they are keen on hiring Will Still from Stade de Reims in the summer of 2024.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Yorke stated, “I’ve played for these clubs, and it would be great to return to Sunderland, but it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t consider managing another EFL club. I need to be receptive to the challenge ahead of me.”

My Opinion: Dwight Yorke will not become the new Sunderland manager.

In my opinion, Sunderland will not give Dwight Yorke the management job anytime soon.

Sunderland are a large club that is still in contention for promotion from the Championship to the Premier League via the playoffs.

I don’t believe the Black Cats’ owners will give Yorke the managerial position.

The 52-year-old is regarded as one of the best Premier League players ever. The former Trinidad and Tobago international is considered a legend.

The former Aston Villa and Sunderland player made 375 Premier League appearances and scored 123 goals.

Yorke won the Premier League three times and the UEFA Champions League once for United.

However, that was as a player. Yorke has done nothing noteworthy to warrant a chance at the Sunderland managing position. His spell at Macarthur FC in Australia ended in controversy.
