Cleveland, Ohio — The Pittsburgh Steelers and Mitch Trubisky have reached an agreement on a future plan. The plan is for both parties to go their separate ways.
The Steelers stated on Monday that the team and Trubisky had amicably agreed to part ways, allowing Trubisky to become a free agency before the new league year begins on March 13 at 4 p.m. Eastern.
Trubisky had one year remaining on a two-year deal with the Steelers worth $11.25 million. He first joined the Steelers in 2022.
- Trubisky, a former Mr. Football in Ohio when he played at Mentor, appeared in 12 games and started seven in his two seasons in Pittsburgh, completing 184 of 287 passes (64.1%) for 1,884 yards, eight touchdowns, and ten interceptions.
Trubisky went 0-5 in games for the Steelers, including losses in Weeks 14 and 15 when he replaced an injured Kenny Pickett. Trubisky was benched after a 30-13 defeat to the Colts in Week 15, and Mason Rudolph took over, leading the Steelers to three consecutive wins and the AFC’s seventh and final playoff position.
Trubisky started a game for the Steelers, who were 2-5.
