Sunderland have received a warning from Huddersfield Town, according to an entertaining prediction from Sky Sports pundit.
Huddersfield Town hosts Sunderland midweek in a huge game at both ends of the Championship standings.
Sunderland will try to make it three victories in their last four games this midweek when they go to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield.
A 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle last weekend brought the team back within one place of the play-offs.
Pierre Ekwah, Jack Clarke, and Jobe Bellingham scored goals to secure an essential three points against an in-form Pilgrims team.
Jon Worthington’s tenure as Huddersfield Town’s caretaker manager could come to an end on Wednesday evening when the Black Cats visit.
Since briefly taking over for Darren Moore, the interim coach has supervised one win and one loss.
Sunderland should be mindful of Huddersfield’s scoring potential.
David Prutton anticipates goals on Wednesday night when these two sides meet.
He predicts a 2-2 draw, citing Huddersfield’s three goals against Southampton (in a 5-3 defeat) as a warning to Sunderland that the Terriers will be dangerous in front of the net.
“Huddersfield can take a lot from that performance against Southampton, even if they didn’t get anything from the game,” commented Prutton, via Sky Sports.
“No one gave them a chance on the south coast, so scoring three goals and giving a decent team a run for their money should bode well.
“Sunderland have had a good couple of home wins recently, which has relieved some of the burden on Michael Beale.
“But they might have run into Huddersfield at the wrong time.
“There should be goals here, but I fancy a draw.”
Last Saturday, Worthington’s team suffered a 5-3 loss against Southampton, who are in second position.
The result allowed QPR to cut the gap in the relegation race, with the London club hoping to escape the bottom three at Huddersfield’s expense.
The Yorkshire outfit sit 21st in the standings going into this latest round of midweek Championship action.
