Sunderland manager asks for his team to be ‘relentless’ in play-off pursuit, And well prepared to…

With only 15 games left in the Championship season, Michael Beale believes Sunderland should actively hunt every point.

Michael Beale has urged Sunderland to be’relentless’ between now and the conclusion of the season as they attempt to secure a place in the Championship play-offs.

Sunderland made it seven points from nine after defeating Plymouth Argyle 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.

The win returns the Black Cats to the top six, but with games coming thick and fast, the scenario could quickly alter.

Sunderland face Huddersfield on Wednesday and Birmingham City on Saturday, both away from home.

This season, the Wearsiders have struggled away from home, and Beale knows his team can’t afford to let up now.

“We need to be relentless,” Beale told safc.com. “That’s what the league represents. So we have to equal that, right?

“We need to recover now. We need to provide an outstanding performance away from home on Wednesday.

“We know the supporters will travel and support us, so we must continue to put on performances and get outcomes that will make them proud.

“It will be an exciting run to the end of the season, but we need to go on a consistent run of wins if we can, if we want to get to where we want to go at the end of the season.”

“So that one’s finished. We’ll move on to Huddersfield on Wednesday.”
