Oliveira and Schoen both strike agreements to remain with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.


WINNIPEG — Brady Oliveira is staying with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. On Tuesday, the 2023 CFL rushing leader reached an agreement with the Blue Bombers to extend his contract for another two years.

On Tuesday, the 2023 CFL rushing leader reached an agreement with the Blue Bombers to extend his contract for another two years. The 26-year-old Winnipeg native is eligible to become a free agent next week.

Financial information was not disclosed, but according to TSN, Oliveira will make $230,000 this season and $240,000 in 2025.

Later on Tuesday, the Bombers announced that they had reached an agreement with receiver Dalton Schoen on a one-year contract. Schoen, the CFL’s outstanding rookie in 2022, has 141 catches for 2,663 yards and 26 touchdowns in two CFL seasons with Winnipeg.

The financial terms of Schoen’s agreement were not disclosed, but he is expected to earn $230,000 in 2024. Schoen was set to become a free agent next Tuesday.

Last season, the five-foot-10, 222-pound Oliveira rushed for 1,534 yards and was named the CFL’s top Canadian and a nominee for the outstanding player award.

Oliveira had the second-most rushing yards by a Canadian in league history, trailing only Calgary’s Jon Cornish (1,813 in 2013).

Oliveira also led the CFL in scrimmage yards (2,016) and touchdowns (13). He had a league-leading seven 100-yard rushing games and set career highs in rushing, catches (38) and receiving yards (482).
