Following a painful loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Packers are seeking to improve in the offseason. One way the team could accomplish this is by replacing David Bakhtiari with a younger player in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Packers’ offensive has been outstanding this season, without a doubt. After overcoming the uncertainty of dealing Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, the squad has discovered a new core player in Jordan Love.

Thanks to Love’s breakout season, the Packers have remained relevant and competitive, even playing the top-seeded 49ers in the playoffs. Despite Love’s mistakes in the important game that led to their elimination, Green Bay’s future appears bright, especially if the organization uses its draft picks correctly.

In a mock NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers are projected to select Tyler Guyton as David Bakhtiari’s replacement.

Bakhtiari is often viewed as one of the team’s weak links due to injuries, and his status on the roster may be up for grabs the next season. If this happens, the Packers may consider drafting Tyler Guyton to improve their offensive lineup.

Oklahoma Football: Tyler Guyton rising to lofty expectations

According to a mock draft made by NFL analyst Lancer Zierlein:

“David Bakhtiari’s recent injury history and salary-cap hit in 2024 may make this an easy decision.” Zierlein wrote, “Guyton is big, long, and athletic with exciting protection potential, but he needs more game experience.”

In essence, Guyton can replace Bakhtiari’s job because of his athleticism, size, and feel for the game, all of which can potentially complement Love on the field. On the other hand, the approaching rookie’s footwork is unorganized, and his aiming points require some improvement.

Nonetheless, having a person on the field is preferable to one who is continuously injured. If Green Bay chooses Guyton, the team’s future performance is likely to improve.
