West Ham United: Said Benrahma’s debut for Lyon is delayed owing to yet another London Stadium difficulty.

Said Benrahma is still unable to make his debut for Lyon after joining on loan from West Ham United.

FootMercato reports on its website that the winger is suspended for the club’s encounter against Lille on Wednesday (6 February).

According to FootMercato, Benrahma is unavailable after receiving a red card for the Hammers against Bristol City last month.

Benrahma pays for West Ham’s mistake
Benrahma was clearly admonished by manager David Moyes for his red card against Bristol City, which he received during the FA Cup third round replay on January 16.

The Algerian was sent off early in the second half for kicking out at Bristol City’s Joe Williams, with his team down 1-0 at the time.

The Premier League club thereafter struggled to break the deadlock, with Benrahma’s red card definitely a big contributor to their failures.

It resulted in an embarrassing early FA Cup elimination for Moyes and his team, and Benrahma is now paying the price for his foolishness despite the fact that he has moved on to another club.

The forward joined Lyon on loan in the January transfer window, but it appeared that the move might take longer than expected despite an agreement in place.

The deal was finally completed, but his debut will have to wait, with the Algerian forced to watch from distance as Lyon face Lille in the French Cup round of 16.

In other West Ham news, Paul Merson mentioned the Hammers in his Premier League title race verdict after Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-1.
