Overall, the Green Bay Packers exceeded expectations during the 2023 NFL season. Now it’s time to discover ways to maintain their shape and improve on the success they had in their first year without renowned quarterback and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rogers.

While Jordan Love has long been cited as one of the primary reasons for the Packers’ stunning 2023 season, the defense deserves praise as well, which is why Eric Edholm of NFL.com predicts Green Bay will select a defensive weapon in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Packers have needs at cornerback and safety, and I believe DeJean could play either position in the NFL. New defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has used a lot of single-high looks, and I can see a man like the rangy DeJean filling that role. Furthermore, Green Bay has a long history of selecting successful Hawkeyes, for whatever it’s worth.

Cooper DeJean is an intriguing NFL draft prospect for the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers hold the No. 25 pick in the first round, and they have several options for how to use it. If they spend that money on DeJean, they will acquire an intriguing prospect who was a key member of one of the most stingy stop units in the 2023 college football season. The Iowa Hawkeyes concluded the season rated fourth in the country with only 14.8 points allowed per game and fifth with 170.7 passing yards surrendered per game.

Packers help secondary by selecting Iowa's Cooper DeJean in NFL.com mock draft

Pro Football Focus gives DeJean a solid overall rating of 77.4. DeJean had seven interceptions, 13 passes defended, and 120 total tackles during his three years at Iowa.

The Packers may need to shore up the depth of their secondary, and drafting a cornerback like DeJean sounds like a decent idea for Green Bay.
