The Green Bay Packers took a tiny, calculated risk in May 2023 when they signed quarterback Jordan Love to a one-year contract extension. A year later, Love might be one of the NFL’s highest-paid players.
Love originally signed a team-friendly contract worth $22.5 million, with $13.5 million guaranteed. While it provided the starting quarterback with an immediate payday, the Packers cashed in with a cap-friendly contract for the 2024 season, making Love one of the best deals in the NFL if he lived up to his potential.

The former first-round pick outperformed expectations. After a rocky start, Love was statistically one of the top quarterbacks in football over the second half of the regular season. While his two interceptions in the Divisional Round were costly, Green Bay saw plenty of its quarterback.
At his first press conference of the offseason, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed that extending Love is a top goal this offseason. While there is no timetable for when a deal could be completed, there are new projections on how much it will cost the Packers to complete a transaction.
