Finally, the Green Bay Packers will have a Pro Bowl player! With the San Francisco 49ers moving to the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Javon Hargrave has opted out of the festivities. In his place, the NFL has named Kenny Clark to his third Pro Bowl.

With many players withdrew from the event this weekend, more NFL players were selected for the Pro Bowl. With Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott opting out of the NFC, there was an immediate need for new quarterbacks on the roster. Matthew Stafford also withdrew from the tournament, therefore all three previously named NFC quarterbacks had to be replaced.

Despite having one of the finest individual seasons among NFC quarterbacks, Packers quarterback Jordan Love was not added to the roster. Instead, the NFL went with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, Seattle Seahawks Geno Smith, and Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts.

Love’s shunning when the rosters were first revealed was reasonable. Purdy and Prescott were MVP candidates throughout the season. Stafford also had a strong statistical season, helping the Rams secure a playoff spot in the final weeks of the season. But what about this time around? It is inexcusable.

How Do Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love’s Stats Compare to Other NFC Pro Bowl QBs?

Love may have struggled during the season, but he finished with one of the best statistical seasons in the NFL. He undoubtedly had a year that rivaled or exceeded that of the six quarterbacks picked to the NFC roster:

Quarterback Completion % Yards Touchdowns Interceptions Passer Rating
Jordan Love 64.2% 4,159 32 11 96.1
Brock Purdy 69.4% 4,280 31 11 113.0
Dak Prescott 69.5% 4,516 36 9 105.9
Matthew Stafford 62.6% 3,965 24 11 92.5
Jalen Hurts 65.4% 3,858 23 15 89.1
Geno Smith 64.7% 3,624 20 9 92.1
Baker Mayfield 64.3% 4,044 28 10 94.6

As can be seen, Love outperformed not just the other three quarterbacks named to the roster today, but also Matthew Stafford.

Green Bay Packers fans react to Jordan Love’s Pro Bowl snub.
To be perfectly honest, the Pro Bowl has become so watered-down, with so many players named to it each year, that it has lost much of its significance. However, it remains crucial for athletes in terms of recognition and contract negotiations.

That said, Love’s exclusion in favor of three quarterbacks who were clearly inferior to him this season is perplexing. Packers fans quickly expressed their displeasure on social media:

Whatever. It will give Love added drive to outperform everyone again next year.
