Tim Lester, who has been a senior analyst for the Packers since March 2023, is slated to become the Iowa Hawkeyes’ offensive coordinator.

After five years as the head coach at Western Michigan, Lester was hired by Green Bay last year to assist on the defensive side of the ball. LaFleur and Lester have known each other for a long time, having played together at Western Michigan in 1998 and 1999.
Even though Lester was primarily in charge of the defense in Green Bay, he has more offensive expertise, having served as an offensive coordinator in a variety of other roles before to his current one.

Lester will succeed Brian Ferentz, who has had a poor career at Iowa, with the Hawkeyes finishing second-to-last in FBS scoring the previous two seasons and averaging only 15.4 points per game in 2023. Brian Ferentz is the son of Kirk Ferentz, the country’s longest-tenured coach, who has been the head coach at Iowa since 1999.
LaFleur is likely to continue bringing in more experienced coaches to act as analysts for the club. John Donovan and Aubrey Pleasant formerly served as senior analysts with LaFleur before moving on to different employment.
However, the Packers’ current goal is to find a new defensive coordinator after firing Joe Barry.
