In the last few days of the transfer window, Sunderland appears to be finally getting serious about making transfers.

Sunderland has agreed to a fee for Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde, and it appears that they will make their first January acquisition.

The Black Cats were undoubtedly eager to strengthen this position following the injuries to their three left-backs, but they also know that enhancing their offensive options might mean the difference between finishing in the middle of the league and making the playoffs.

As deadline day draws near, Sunderland is still searching for a new striker, but they may have to consider another creative player due to growing interest in Jack Clarke.

The Premier League has shown interest in the winger thus far, although Lazio initiated contact and had their initial offer turned down.

Fans are anxious over whether Clarke will stay on Wearside this week as reports suggest the Italian powerhouses may make a better offer.

Amad Diallo is one player who could lessen the blow of Clarke’s probable departure.

The “incredible” Ivorian appeared to be out of Sunderland’s reach after rumors surfaced that Manchester United would keep him at Old Trafford past January. Nevertheless, his lack of playing time in yesterday’s victory over Newport County raised concerns.

Amad even proceeded to “like” a message on X from a Sunderland supporter urging him to “come somewhere you are truly appreciated” before quickly unliking it.

What does Sunderland gain from Amad Diallo?
Amad doesn’t score goals like the Black Cats need, but he does bring a lot of creativity, attacking danger, and goal-scoring ability to the team, which is highly needed.

The young player was a huge help to Sunderland last season, particularly during our difficult time without the injured Ross Stewart.

Patrick Roberts needs his tiny companion so much more now that he hasn’t scored in the Championship this season, as is evident.

If Sunderland can bring Amad back for the next five months, it might be a major game-changer for the team. It appears like they are making one more push for his signing.

The Wearsiders are still rumored to be interested in Kieffer Moore of Bournemouth, and Amad’s addition of the Welshman might drastically change this assault, which has been severely lacking in creativity.

It would be great business to retain Jack Clarke as well, since the 23-year-old is essential to our chances of making the playoffs again. It would probably be our only opportunity to retain Clarke over the summer as well.
