Alarming: Green Bay Packers linked to a $3 million running back.

Fans watch the Green Bay Packers play the New Orleans Saints in a preseason game Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Angela Major/WPR

Although the San Francisco 49ers terminated the Green Bay Packers’ season last week, the team’s future prospects are quite good. With the likely addition of Ezekiel Elliot to the squad, things will become more fascinating for the league’s youngest team.

Throughout the Packers’ season, fans witnessed Jordan Love being handed the keys to the kingdom as the team’s quarterback. Coming off a deal that sent Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, this is an unexpected result because Love was not expected to be this good straight away.

Is a reunion coming between the Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott?

However, in the Packers’ final game against the 49ers, the squad made critical mistakes, including Love’s errant ball to no one and Anders Carlson’s failed kick. These mistakes robbed Green Bay the opportunity to progress to the NFC title game, and maybe the Super Bowl.

That might change next season, when the Packers have the opportunity to add experience and talent to their roster through the draft or free agency.

Ezekiel Elliot is expected to join the Green Bay Packers for next season.

According to NFL pundit Maurice Jones-Drew, the Packers appear to be a nice fit for Ezekiel Elliot following his tenure with the New England Patriots.

Elliott had the worst statistical season of his career in his first season away from Dallas, but I attribute it primarily to playing in a mediocre Patriots offense that never found its identity with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe behind center. With New England on the verge of a massive rebuild, the veteran could join a youthful Packers club on a low-cost contract, with Green Bay’s bruiser back, AJ Dillon, also set to enter free agency. Zeke would work well with Aaron Jones, adding a physical element to the running game. Plus, Zeke’s a man who can take over if Jones is unable to remain healthy,” Jones-Drew added.

Adding Elliot to the lineup undoubtedly offers positives. It remains to be seen whether the Packers will be able to complete this signing during the offseason. In any event, this is one aim worth pursuing for Green Bay.
