Jewison Bennette, a winger for Sunderland, is about to finalize a loan transfer in January.
As he gets ready to finalize a loan move to Greek team Aris FC, Michael Beale has reiterated that Jewison Bennette has a long-term future at Sunderland.
Although the agreement has not yet been formally announced, it is believed that the 19-year-old has taken a plane this weekend to wrap up talks. It is not anticipated that the agreement will include an option to purchase, as Beale has stated that the Costa Rican international will have the opportunity to compete for regular Wearside minutes in the preseason.
Beale stated, “To be honest, I have a lot of hope for Jewish as a player, but he has a need to play.”
Furthermore, given the upcoming competitions and the status of his national team, he must go forth and play right now.
“When I first arrived, the boy was presumably trying to get a loan so he could play regular football.” However, Jewi will return to the building during preseason. Jewi is definitely a player for the future for us, based on what I’ve seen. It’s a loan to let someone play and receive some oxygen to help him regain confidence, not to send him away.
Adil Aouchiche and Jay Matete were left out of a very young matchday squad for the 3-1 victory over Stoke City, but Beale added that he does not think they will be out of the picture for too long. Beale is still optimistic that the team will bolster its roster prior to Thursday night’s transfer deadline.
“Looking at my board [in the office] yesterday you’re think woah, we’ve got quite a few missing for various reasons,” Beale stated.
Adil Aouachiche was absent today due to illness, while Jay Matete had a little knee issue that is not concerning in the long run, but made him unavailable. Although I understand that this is how our club develops young players, I’m happy that today’s group was so young. I believe the performance we gave today would satisfy the supporters.”
