Inter Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi is out with a sports hernia.
Inter Miami CF has lost another crucial player ahead of the 2024 MLS season, saying Saturday that homegrown midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi has had sports hernia surgery.
The 18-year-old US international, who is still eligible for Argentina, is anticipated to be sidelined for two to three months.
Cremaschi scored 2 goals and 4 assists in 28 appearances (21 starts) as a rookie in 2023, ranking second on last year’s 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR list. He also helped IMCF win the Leagues Cup with several key penalty kicks, securing a spot in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.
This is Inter Miami’s second major setback in preseason, following winger Facundo Farías’ long-term knee injury. Cremaschi and Farías were starting XI possibilities, causing a significant blow for their star-studded team.
Despite Cremaschi’s absence, the Herons have a strong midfield lineup consisting of Sergio Busquets, Gregore, Julian Gressel, Diego Gómez, Jean Mota, and David Ruíz.
Inter Miami, who are on their preseason tour in Asia, will play their first competitive game at home on February 21 against Real Salt Lake (8 p.m. ET | MLS Season Pass).
