TRENDING: NFL gives Nick Sirianni some courageous advice.

The Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Nick Sirianni finished the 2023 NFL season on a sour note, and I believe a divorce for both parties is desperately needed. Except for a few, I believe that an 11-6 regular season record and a berth in the NFL Playoffs would be acceptable to the majority of other NFL teams. However, the Eagles’ dramatic collapse in 2023 raises serious concerns about the coaching staff’s viability.

The Eagles lost both Jonathan Gannon and Shane Steichen to head coaching roles in 2023, and while some expected the Eagles to struggle, I doubt anybody could have imagined how successful their season was. Starting 10-1, the Eagles appeared to be returning to form as they reached the Super Bowl in 2022.

However, losing six of their last seven games was the final nail in the coffin for the team. The Eagles were playing like a five-win team in the last stretch of the season. They lost their hold on the NFC East championship, forcing them to travel for the first round of the NFL playoffs this season. While the Eagles were a more talented squad than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they came out flat and were outplayed by….

That alone, I believe, would be enough to persuade Eagles GM Howie Roseman and Jeff Lurie that they must change course. Nick Sirianni’s personality did not appear to connect with anyone in the NFL, as Sirianni believed he was behaving arrogant and cocky at times. And, given how the Eagles responded this year after losing their two coordinators, one has to ask if Sirianni’s success had little to do with his role as head coach.

I believe that a fresh start is the best course of action for all parties. To be honest, I don’t think the Eagles’ players would mind having a new head coach. Philly is far too good to have had their season end in the way it did, and the blame lies with the head coach.
