Controversial: Sunderland may miss a historic transfer agreement because of issues in negotiations

Sunderland are still facing some ‘obstacles’ in their pursuit of this 23-year-old, according to reports.

Sunderland are still looking to complete their first signing of the January transfer window, as well as their first signing of the Michael Beale era.

And Beale could certainly use some new blood in his squad, as the 43-year-old has been under intense criticism after only seven games in charge.

Callum Styles, from Barnsley, appears to be on his way to the Stadium of Light.

The Hungarian international has been heavily connected over the last week, and it appeared that a deal for the 23-year-old was almost complete.

However, it appears that there may still be some distance to travel.
