Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers will face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Divisional Playoffs Saturday night.

It’s unclear whether Green Bay’s season will finish. When it does, the Packers intend to negotiate a long-term contract with the quarterback.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Love is poised to sign a lucrative long-term contract worth franchise quarterback money.

Love, 25, has one year left on his contract after agreeing to an extension last offseason. His contract is worth $13.5 million next season, with incentives that could pay the former first-round pick more than $21 million. He’s clearly outplayed that figure.

The question here is how much Love is worth. He’s unlikely to get a deal like Justin Herbert signed with the Los Angeles Chargers last summer (five years, $262.5 million). With only one year of starting experience and a much smaller sample size than Herbert or Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow, any Love extension will be challenging.

Packers, Jordan Love to Work Toward Long-Term Extension: Report

We could be looking at a deal akin to Kyler Murray’s five-year, $230.5 million contract signed with the Arizona Cardinals before the 2022 season. That is, a large total figure with limited promises.

We do know that Love has been one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL heading into Saturday night’s playoff game. During his final eight regular-season starts, the former Utah State great scored 20 touchdowns and had only one interception.
